Before we start let's look at a brief history of bracelets
It was important back in 2500 BC for ancient Sumerian women to wear bracelets and other jewelery to show off the wealth of their husbands. They were used as a status symbol.
They were also important to Ancient Egyptians in 2000 BC. Along with status they also added religious connotations.
Where did the word "bracelet" come from?
During the Grecian era, soldiers wore leather bands around their forearms for defensive purposes. These bands often saved injury from a sword or a spear. Sometimes gemstones, gold or silver was used to decorate them. They called them "Bracels". This name came from the Latin word "Brachium" for arm.
The Grecian woman thought these looked very attractive and thought they would look good on them too, but they made a more feminine smaller version, which they called "Bracel-ets".
